sammy | CROSS BREED PROFILE | June 12, 2009
Some say Rottador some say Rottidor… either way it’s a Labrador and Rottweiler cross and will be a large dog. This dog will have high protective qualities, be quite territorial, have plenty of stamina and be loving. It will probably be a fiercely loyal friend who can be easily trained. Daily exercise is a must for this breed!
Varying examples below taken from the flickr group “Rottador Nation & other mutts”

Below a picture of Joey, our Rottador, whom we sadly had to leave behind in 2006 on account of the awful, archaic, quarantine laws, when we came back to the UK from Capetown. We re-homed him with friends who also absolutely dote on him.

He was a Rottweiler (male)/ Golden Labrador cross and without doubt, the best dog we have ever had. A fantastic family pet, but also a formidably protective guard dog (an unfortunate necessity in Cape Town). Joey would sleep in the same room as our kids (they insisted) and probably also thought that he was a boy too, as he would sleep human style on his back with legs stretched out, with his paws in the air ! When we go back, we always go to visit him, and he always remembers us.

Meet Mapeta this poor young ladywas roaming the streets but got a second chance at love thanks to Esperan for taking her in and giving her loving a home. Pictures above.

My Jess had a Rottweiller mum and a Labrador dad, she is absolutely wonderful. Great temperament, brilliant with the kids, gentle & loving but at the same time a superb guard dog with an extremely loud bark!

Intelligent and easy to train and very well behaved. In fact, I would like another one but don’t see them advertised very often.

Thanks to Marjie & George for sending in the comments and pictures of Beau.

Looking very Lab!
We where looking on the internet with the words: Rottweiler X Labrador, and we found your site. We’ve got a Rottweiler X Labrador that will be 9 months tomorrow. His name is Le BEAU Noir! And we call him BEAU!! We saw your question at the end of the site, and so we desided to send you some pictures of our Beau!!

This is our rottador, “Digger” He’s still only a puppy at 3 months and already very protective of his family, barking and growling when people approach the house. He does quite well with the kids (aged 6 and 1) following them around the yard and keeping an eye on them, lol. He sleeps in his crate at night and loves it, I think he feels he can relax from his duties in there. He comes when called already and stays right in the yard without being chained or fenced. He’s a great puppy and we just love him. He is growing like a weed and will be bigger than the kids in no time. Sent in by Ashley Becker

This is Nandie. , Labrador mum and Rottweiler dad… She was adopted from an animal protection agency and was very shy at first.. it took her two days to take out her full personality Now she is Very trainable ,very loyal and really protective protective and has not lost her naughty side with age. I love her to death. What impresses me most about her is she knows when to bark and when to be gentle… Something I have never taught her. Thank you to Claudia-Ivonee Bravo for sharing.

This is zoey, my rottador. I adopted her from the city dog shelter where her time was running out as she had been there three months. They had a restriction on her, limiting adoption to families with kids over 14 only due to Zoey's size and energy level, which by the way who, wouldn’t be hyper after being caged for three months? When visiting her for compatibility the volunteer tried to talk me out of rescuing such a large dog and kept referring me to other dogs. At this point I knew she was doomed if I did not adopt her. After saying i wanted her, the same volunteer took her back to her cage anyway, for what he referred to as, a reminder for Zoey to what she would return to, should she not be good for her new owner.... Horrible man! Zoey has been with me now for 1.3 years and she is the best dog. We are in agility training, and she helps me keep to my own need for exercise. A very lovable dog. She also is very gentle with young children. You cannot always go by the shelter recommendations because dogs are not in their true form when in the shelter knowing they are awaiting the death chamber and the volunteers may not always be on their side. Zoey is the greatest and it was the best decision. Since I have rescued a Pitt Bull and they do great together. Zoey is the alpha of the two and they are best friends with the Pitt laying her head on Zoey's tummy at times when sleeping. They are both females so I was worried about how they would get along. Turned out great. Sent in by Debbie
I have a rottador exactly like your black one his name i moose and he weighed in at 105 at 19 months. Hes a great big marshmallow of a dog but looks scary.

Greetings, I like your website. This is a good site and I wanted to post a little note to let you know, great job! Thanks Jessica
i have just brought a rottador, hes the cutest little thing, but from seeing your pics, hes not going to be little for long

I recently adopted my rottador, Bubba, from a rescue group near Detroit. He’s been in a few dog fights, but is still the sweetest, most charming boy!
I wonder if any of you have trouble with your rottadors chewing anything and everything. Bubba has several chew toys, but still prefers help himself to whatever he fancies on the counters.
hi we just found your site and thought we would tell you about our rottador Tia she is the most sweetest little puppy you could dream of she is pure black but with a little white tuff under her neck and the structure of a rotty small but strong, she is excellent with our 2 1/2 year old, she loves to play fetch and go on long walks with her friend from over the road billy ( a belgian sheperd), but most of all likes to cuddle up on the sofa with the family can`t get over how cute she is. we also have 2 budgies and its really funny when she goes over to the cage as she looks so confused, wondering what they are, anyway im gunna go tia wants a fuss lol bye all great site by the way

I’ve had 3 Rotties, and I love everything about them, I also had a doberman lab mix and she was wonderful too. My neighbors have a huge Rottidor and she plays with my Rottweiler all the time. Wonderful breed. An very smart and easy to train. They want to please you, and are very loving.
The tan type looks a lot like a Rhodesian Ridgeback we had. Either color is a beautiful dog.
i av a male rottidor aged 13 mnths old although iv only had him 6 mnths he seems to be an exellent dog super with the youngest kids 5 and 3 respectivly and is very territorial and looks very scary with male rotti very visible and tan all over . i came by him through a family member as he was being illtreated and well underfed and urinated with the slightest bang ov a door or raised voice and most certainly confused but with time and patience he is now living a happy life loves his walks round the estate and fed on dry food and raw diet displayin a gorgeous shiny coat and very muscle toned what a great pet and most certainly going up for stud to keep his memory goin with me
i just bought a rottidor but they told me she was 8 weeks old but she is really tiny. she is about the size of a chiwawa and she has small paws. My question is she looks like a rotti puppy but she does not have any of the size so i am not overly sure if she is a rottidor or not ??
