“MJ” is a handsome cat with a lovely chestnut sheen to his coat. He’s probably no older than 6 years, acts much younger and has been neutered. Initially he’s a little shy and he prefers to come to you, rather than the other way around. He does like to be stroked and have abit of fuss on his terms. “MJ” is very clean and a good housekeeper- he keeps his eating area very tidy and, in fact, he’s no trouble at all! He’s just started to play, which is a joy to watch, and he likes a carrot-on-a-string-on-a-rod toy and a large cat-nip filled fish toy!
We know he’ll blossom into the most magnificent moggy, simply by being with an experienced cat owner or a patient person that doesn’t expect a lap cat immediately. “MJ” can be easily spooked and reacts in fright at times, so he won’t be suitable to live with younger children. You may think this makes “MJ” sound like a “Smooth Criminal,” however, please don’t get that impression. When he’s handled gently and sensitively, he responds very well and is a “Pretty Young Thing!” We think he probably hasn’t been handled much before being rescued and this is why he is a little nervous and wary. The best tip for dealing with this sort of behaviour is just time, patience and respect. He likes to be combed around his head and chin and will lie down and lean on you in a friendly manner whilst you are doing this. You just need to recognise when he has had enough and leave him to it. “MJ” would love to have his own safe garden, as he sits on the windowsill, admiring the views.
Here’s an update from his fosterer:
” MJ is doing so well, he is more affectionate, still on his terms but he loves to be around you. He will play for ages, hiding in a carpet tunnel {made from a remnant of carpet!} waiting for a toy or ribbon to be trailed across the end! He will even accept a little kiss or two if he’s feeling like it. He would make an excellent goal-keeper as jumps and dives at his ribbon toy for ages, we haven’t the heart to tell him that cats can’t join a football club!”
