A Collie German Shepherd Cross will be a medium to large size dog. It’s loyal, lively with high intelligence, and easily trained.
It will need lots of grooming as both breeds are high shedding dogs. Be prepared to exercise this dog but also to have a lifelong friend.
Meet Noki, thanks Eva for sending in his picture!

I have a collie/german shepard and he is loving, great with kids obedient, protective and never leaves my side max is the best dog ever
My dog is still only a puppy, but it is already learning really fast, he’s playful, loyal, cute and good with everyone- except some other animals that scare him haha
Hi. We have a beautiful 5 year old female Collie/German Shepherd cross called Bonny. She came to us as a rescued 5 week old pup who could barely eat and was covered in ticks & fleas. She slept in our bed for 6 months until she was confident enough to be with the other dogs. She has brought us great joy and has the most wonderful nature – both with children and other animals. She however is a bit shy of other dogs but can stand her ground if she is under threat. She loves balls and loves to swim in our pool whenever she gets the chance. She can be lively but is not highly strung and can be walked without a leash as she is incredibly obedient and comes when called.
i have a georgus german shepherd x border collie, it loves children is so smart and protective and i couldn’t find a more
perfect dog
(p.s. he is male!!!)
We also have a border collie x german shepherd mix dog.
She’s black with white on her chest and two of her paws.
Strong herding instincts, loves people and being part of what we are doing. Lot’s of energy!
I’d love to hear from owners of similar mixes!
Hello,
We are looking at adopting a white sheperd x border collie – we are making our decision this wknd and in the meantime have been researching both breeds. I have 5 & 7 yr old daughters…so looking for a dog that will be suitable with children. I am a little anxious about the amount of exercise they will require each day, however we live very close to an unleashed dog park and will commit to a lot of time spent over there, as well as finding as many ways to stimulate the dog as we can. I also wonder about the amount of shedding – is it ridiculous, or is it tolerable?! This particular dog is super sweet, he is pure white and he’s 3 months old so has a lot of fun bouncy energy. Does anyone know if it will keep its white coat or is it likely to change? Thanks for any information you can provide.
Can someone tell me where I can get a collie/german shepherd. I am looking for one that has long dark hair with brown spots and eyes. Kinda like the picture on the top of this post.
Any information would be appreciated. I live in Canada.
My fiance and I just added a BC/GS cross pup to our family he is 9 weeks old and his energy level very high!! We have had him for a week and he has put on 5 lbs and is totally house trained. Sits, fetches, comes when called, and is a polite dog… most of the time. We could not have asked for a better puppy.

I have a 10 week old German Shepherd x staffy called Bailey but he just looks like a collie, he’s jet black with white on his chest, paws and a white patch on his nose
He loves people and has lots of energy. He hasnt been outside for walks or met other dogs yet as he’s just had his second injection but will have this time next week
We have a gsd cross collie, he is 6 years old ish, we rescued him 4 years ago. He is very loving to those he knows but doesn have nerviouness around people, very strong guarding instincts and very protective. He is great with kids and people. I love him to bits, but would think twice about another one. they need lots of excerise and a very good well balanced diet with no additivies, i believe this is why my boy wa hyper for so long as we fed him wrong food, he is much calmer now. He loves footballs and is very good at twists and somersults when catching balls. With the right training and food i believe they make super pets espceilly if you want a bit of protection. as i say very good around kids. My boy is my baby amd i have learnt alot about dog care since having him.
WOuld reccomend White GSD cross to active family who wold like learn about all aspects of dog ownership, and the fun it entails. , white GSDs can suffer from digestive issues i beleive and ours did, excellent to train brilliant at agility, fly ball, anything fun, need mental stimulation – hide and search games at home, some separation aniexty issues, best friend and loyalty without the agression / confrontation of a GSD to deal with.
we have a border collie x GSD. She came to us at 16 months old from a rescue centre and is now 6 years old. Lady is highly intelligent , loves to play with a ball but is not keen on other dogs, despite a lot of training. She is without a doubt the best dog we’ve had but can be nervous around people she doesn’t know and is a nightmare in a car!! She also suffers from EPI which is controlled by daily medication. We could’nt be without her though!!!
See my previous entry and her(! YES, it’s a she!) picture above.
is only 1 yr 10 mths… There’s alot of pictures and info about this mix on my facebook group page: Border Collie x German Shepherd mix Dogs … Please add your dogs, pictures, videos, what they like, problems, good sides etc. X-rayed her joints and had her eyes checked all ok.
Our dog sheds twice a year and in between practically nothing. She can eat anything, never had a problem with her digestion, she won’t eat poop and rotten things, she won’t roll over in all kinds of funny stinky things… she loves swimming, sauna(!), frisbees, agility, herding, balls, tools(!)… she understands how to use a mirror – she looks at me through the mirror from the back seat of the car and likes a game where we sit behind her, she has our bedroom mirror in front of her and she watches us through the mirror – when we move behind her, she turns around and gives us a kiss.
She barks if someone acts strange, but loves people, any kind of people, pushing carts, umbrellas, black, white, hoods, you name it…
I’d take a second one any time, but right now our Noki -it’s a she – not a he
We have a 14 month old German Shepherd Border Collie named Roxy and she is a wonderful lovely, very obedient, cute, very easy to train dog. I couldn’t be more pleased with her! Awesome dog!!
