CROSS BREED PROFILE: Jack Russell x Chihuahua
A Jack Russell Chihuahua Cross will be lively and affectionate and should be placed in a home with older children only.
It will be on the small side and will be super cute!
Sent in by Karen: I was looking at your site, because I own a Jack Russell X Chihuahua, And I was hoping that I could send you a photo of her, Shes called Ruby, I’ve had her since she was 7 weeks old and she is now 15 months. We do training as she loves to learn new things. It only takes her about 5 minutes to learn something new. She also does Agility which she love and is fab at, she has no fear of anything. I looked at the photos that someone called Christine sent in to you. One of the photos, I had to look at twice because one of the dogs looks like my Ruby I would even say it was the same dog!! Oscar & Tinkerbell are brother sister from the same liter and everything. But sooo very different from each other as you can see from the pics below
Thanks to Christine for sending these great pictures in!!

I have a JRT xChi called Foxie Lady. She is the cutest dog I have ever owned or seen. She gets attention wherever I take her and she has the sweetes nature I haveever known. She never snaps, was real easy to house train (was going outside at 113 weeks) Igot her at 10 weeks. She is a very fussy eater and will only eat Butchers puppy food in the small tin foil trays. She will only eat about half a tray at a time and only every other or every few days. She isn’t fed scraps, except by my mum, when I am at work (though she denies this LOL) she does get treats though and my vet says she has a beautiful coat and is in tip top condition. I am so in love with her, she is a cracker and it was the best thing I ever did, getting a cross breed. She adores my three rabbits and they lie next to each other sleeping at the weekend when I am not working.
Hi,
Ive got a Jack Chi who is now 6 months old and im wondering what foods he cant have?? We usually have lots of scraps left over but im not sure what foods he can have …
Hey I have a 12week old jack chi he’s absolutey stunning looks more like a pedigree chihuahua he’s very fluffy and pure white. He’s the perfect little dog I’m having trouble house breaking him any advice or tips??
I have a Chi Jack cross called Nacho.
I call mine a Ja-huahua! I got him in June 2010 and hes a very spirited little dog! He looks nothing like any ive seen before, which i think is the beauty of cross bred dogs. They are all individual.
When his ears go back you can see the signiture chi slope to his head, but his snout is long like a jack. hes also got stumpy little legs and is pure muscle. hes a podgy little man, but thats just what terriers are like so i was expecting it. he grew slightly bigger than i thought he would, but its ok because we fell over him far too much when he was a puppy!
Id consider another, but i think i was something a little bigger with my next dog.
i have just got a chi x jackirussell to keep my chi company he is very brave an cute and the two dogs seem to be getting on very well.i think my loving chi has calm the chu xjack down.
i have a chi cross jack russell & shitz zu i am hoping he stays really small as i dont want a big dog i will put some pics on when i get time
Hi,
I picked up my Jack Chi Yogi on Saturday at 10 weeks old. He is so gorgeous and unlike the rest of the litter he was very fluffy with beautiful markings.
He is very playful at the moment and is good with children, however he is learning very quickly and seems to know that I will not let him get away with everything just beacuse he is so tiny and cute!
Christine – I hope you dont mind me asking how old is Oscar and do you have any more pictures. He seems to be very simliar to Yogi and i can nto find any pictures of Jack Chi’s like him, I am really keen to see if his fur will stay as fluffy or go straighter as he gets older.
Thank you to anyone who can give any handy tips, this is my first Jack Chi and I love him to bits.

Our Jack Chi is bigger than a normal Jack (which is a shame as we wanted a smaller dog really but she is not big, just bigger than a regular Jack so you just never know…) but she has dainty legs and upright ears looking a bit like a little fox. She is big time HYPER and very dominant, it’s taken us a while to get her to stop biting the kids and now we are working on jumping up. She is very affectionate but chased our cats non stop, one of our cats has had a kitten recently so we are keeping them well apart and mum is very protective so is now chasing the dog back, I am hoping it will make her realise she is not the dominant one and stop her chasing the others. I have small kids and she is great with them but again is wanting to be dominant so we are working hard to stop it. Not as easy going a dog as we had hoped and a heap lot more hyper than I ever imagined but she is only 9 months so early days. House training really easy and she is generally good apart from the odd naughty bit of food stealing off the coffee table. Both hubby and I work from home, god knows how anyone would cope with her if they didn’t work from home. Be prepared to put a lot of work in!!
Our Jack Chi has the best traits of both breeds. Strong, small 9 lbs, with expressive black eyebrows and tri color paws, very loving, bounces with glee, loves walks but also loves to just be in your lap.
the smartest dog i have ever trained. Hyper 24/7 long chest and tail fur but short everywhere else , verry soft. loves to cuddle up , extreemly cute and easly house broken !
