Our Aims: Rescue - Rehabilitate - Loan

Since the 1960’s we have been maintaining an active role working with many other organisations to relieve animals suffering. For various reasons some animals remain resident at the sanctuary. It is our policy to rehabilitate and loan our animals to caring homes if appropriate. NO ANIMAL IS EVER SOLD and every animal loaned is checked regularly. Sussex Horse Rescue outgrew it’s premises in Steyning due to the increasing number of horses taken into it’s care and is now based in Uckfield. We find it sad to think that we are expanding as this only shows the increase in animal cruelty and neglect. We believe that by constant media pressure and increasing public awareness, cruelty can become a thing of the past. The sanctuary is a peaceful location making it ideal for our animals & enjoyable for the public to visit and learn about equine welfare. We are desperate for your support as we are continuing our refurbishment programme, as and when funds allow. We also need to continue to care and support our resident equines as well as those out on loan.
