Boots is a slightly older Black Labrador. Â His history is somewhat blurred and unclear. As far as we know his previous owner finds himself unable to look after him and he has been passed to another carer.

Allsorts Dog Rescue operate on the south coast and are always in need of help as many of our dogs come to us with nothing and so we constantly need basic stuff like Collars, Leads, Coats, Blankets, Duvets and Towels. So, if you have any of these items that you no longer need, then please get in touch.
We generally have Helpers across the Brighton, Hove, Burgess Hill, Hassocks areas who could collect.
Have you ever owned a rescue dog before ? If you have, then you are no doubt aware of some of the issues that they may carry with them. If you haven’t, then you need to be aware of some of the following problems rescue dogs can have. 1) Not fully house trained 2) Howling when left alone. 3) Destructive 4) Aggressive towards other dogs. 5) Nervous and timid. 6) Anxious 7) Excessive barking
Not all rescue dogs have these problems but many will have at least one of them.
Why is that ?
Because for one reason or another rescue dogs have been abandoned and or abused. It may be that the dogs owner(s) have died or that the owners simply do not want the dog anymore. We have heard such a variety of excuses for getting rid of dogs that one becomes hardened towards people that give up their dogs.
Example : On Christmas day a few years ago we received a call to say that the dog had stolen the chocolate decorations from the Christmas tree and eaten them, and that we had to come and get the dog immediately. On Christmas day, how heartless is that.
Example : A couple take a puppy to the dog warden in Chichester and say they “found” her in Brighton wandering the streets. They give a false address. The puppy turns out to be deaf.
Example : Two puppies are re-homed together. Neither are spayed or neutered. At 10 months of age the bitch gets pregnant by her brother and produces 7 puppies. The owners take all 9 dogs to the rescue centre and say that their marriage is over and they can’t keep the dogs. They claim the dogs are two weeks old. But their eyes are still shut. They are a few days old. Two weeks later the owners return tanned and smiling. “We have been on holiday, sorted out our differences and want our dogs back”. No chance. Rescue centres are not free boarding homes for irresponsible dog owners.
Example : I have lost my job and can’t afford the dog. If you really are in dire circumstances then there are many ways to be helped. It only costs a few pence to feed a dog a day. And if you are unemployed, the PDSA will provide medical care for your dog. Your rescue centre may also be able to help in exceptional circumstances. Sadly though, more often than not it’s just an excuse to dump the dog.

Aya came to us as a stray. We know little about her at the moment other than the fact that she is a Yorkie.

She is the normal size for a Yorkie, but not tiny. She has a good nature. However, she has separation issues that need to be dealt with patiently and sensitively. This is unsurprising given the upheaval in her life recently. She is good with other dogs and is reasonably happy kennelled with other dogs, but she needs a new home quickly. Ideally she will NOT be an only dog.
We think she is about 2 years old.

As Aya has not been spayed, she cannot be rehomed where there is an entire male.
