Gracie Homed May 2009

| HOMED | May 15, 2009

th gracie24 Gracie Homed May 2009Gracie is special because she is a puppy Greyhound. She is just 10 months old and has been rejected by her racing kennel as too small to be a runner. This is brilliant news for Gracie as it means she will not have to go through the traumas associated with racing. And, it is brilliant for YOU because you get the chance to own a puppy greyhound, something most people have never even seen ! Gracie is currently in a foster home becoming used to such things as houses, gardens, cars, parks, people etc. She is also being introduced to the joys of life like walks and running and playing and being cuddled.  However, you must remember that she is a puppy, big, and incredibly excited. She has yet to learn many of her boundaries.

She mouths things, but never bites. But she has yet to learn the difference between furniture and toys. This you will have to teach her. Amazingly she seems to be clean in the house. Apart from an accident on the first night out of kennels, Gracie has not disgraced (ho ho) herself at all in the toilet department. She accepts a lead and can be taken for a walk, but is very skittish around lorries or noisy things such as lawn mowers. You need to get her accustomed to all the new things appearing in her life. She now knows her name and her recall in the park is improving day by day. She loves meeting new people and other dogs, but has a tendency to jump up due to being over excited. She can live with other animals and children IF they are confident around bouncy dogs. Ideally you will have another dog as a playmate for her as she loves canine interaction.
