Le Coeur Rabbit Rescue
Basingstoke
Since we started our rescue we have successfully re-homed between 140 and 160 rabbits per year. We are registered with Basingstoke Council, recognised by The Rabbit Welfare Association and members of the British Rabbit Council. We have our premises regularly inspected and welcome visitors by appointment.

We have an excellent rabbit – savvy vet and the medical care and good husbandry that we can offer the bunnies that come our way is something that we pride ourselves on. All rabbits are quarantined on arrival and are kept within a secure and clean environment.
When we consider the rabbits to be ready for adoption they are moved into pens where prospective owners can come, by appointment, to view them. It is most unusual for any rabbit to be taken to a new home that day, as we generally demand a 7 day ‘cooling off period’. The rabbits are reserved for a new owner but we insist that time is taken for everyone to consider whether they are making the correct choice and are prepared for the commitment.
We are requesting some form of identification e.g. postal identification to ensure that rabbits are taken by genuine re-homers. This is purely to safeguard a rabbit being placed in a new home. The majority of the bunnies with us have had bad luck already in their lives and we feel we must do our best to ensure they go to genuine and loving homes, rather than possibly being exploited by a someone with inappropriate intentions.
Rabbits which are still in their quarantine period can be viewed and reserved, but the 3 week stay with us remains essential for our assessments.
